Date: Saturday 13 January 2018  (I have lost 3 lbs so I am down to 154 lbs – I am delighted!)

A 10-day break from the gym may seem like a lifetime to seasoned gym bunnies but the fact of the matter is that I usually have a longer break starting from early December.  My plan was to be back in the gym on Tuesday 3 January but I had too much to organise and work had to come first (yes, some things never change!) so my first day back was 4 January.  I am attending early morning classes which is brilliant as my exercise is out of the way first thing.  The downside for a poor sleeper like me is that getting myself to classes on time can be a struggle.  In any event, it was great to be back exercising after the break.

I am back on piste with my eating including taking careful notes for my daily food diary.  I am meant to email these to the Weight Loss Clinic every day and would like to start sending these regularly again.  Accordingly, I have been scribbling on different notes of paper but somehow still not managing to find the time to type them into the email templates and send them off.  I hope next week will be better.

Every other day, I find I am able to slip into some item of clothing that I have not been able to wear for absolutely ages.  It is such a satisfying feeling.  Bestie bought me a goal denim dress in a UK size 10 in the summer of 2016. I am not what I would call a proper size 10 or even 12 so it has a lot to do with the style of the dress but the fact that I can finally fit into it just feels amazing.  Playing dress up with my own wardrobe is becoming fun again.

This photograph was taken today at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium with me in my size 10 goal dress which is a gift from bestie.

I am making more of an effort with my food including doing the meal preparation in the morning for the entire day.  If I can locate some of the photographs I took of my food preparation, I will share them in the post.  If not, I will share it or them in a future post in the meantime below is a photograph of a delicious pudding or breakfast dish.

Frozen raspberries and yoghurt sweetened with xyliotol. I find this delicious.

The 1,000 miles in 2017 did not quite materialise.  I had hoped that by some miracle I could complete it.  However, when I did the sums I had only managed 475.8 miles so there was no way that I could make up the missing 524.2 miles in the remaining time in the 3 months to the end of 2017.  It is a glass half full for me in this respect because I feel like I finished a difficult year on a high.

I decided to lose weight in September 2014 and started my journey then, but I first had the idea for this blog in December 2015 though it did not get off the ground until May 2016 by which time I weighed about 166 lbs. By the end of 2016, I think I lost only 3 lbs in weight through a lot more in inches.  It was frustrating as you can imagine and by Spring of 2017, I began to lose motivation meaning I gained nearly 20lbs.   I started 2017 at 163 lbs and ended it at 155 lbs.  A loss of 8 lbs.  These sums are not significant on the face of it bearing mind the timescale but it does mean that since the start of my weight loss journey in 2014, I have now lost a total of 31 lbs.  The most significant thing is getting past the fear that I could never lose weight no matter how hard I trained or how little or cleverly I ate.  That was downright soul destroying.

I need to keep my head in the game and focus on getting to my final goal of 135lbs.

Until next time it’s
